Really fun

Seriously acceccible and fun, i played it to the end. I immediately got a world of goo vibe when i started playing, and then i saw the tower levels an the portal refrence, an knew you were a bit of an indie gamer haha

Game is brilliant, im sure it will do very well online. Only improvement id mention is giving the player a bit more of a reward after finishing each level, like building towards a bigger goal than just finishing all the levels.. like idunno some basic backplot. Another music track might be nice too

10/10 from me! If you ever want to work on a game with more advanced animation/graphics, id love to work with you, PM me or something.

Bad game..

This game is really bad, im sorry...but youve taken a platformer and then removed everything that makes it fun, and added frustrating camera and items being shot at you.. the presentation, animation, graphics, gameplay, soundfx are all really lame..

Go read some game design books, or play more video games to see what is fun. When making a game, you should generally ask yourself "Is the player going to enjoy this? Why?".. i suggest you brush up on your drawing and get some better sound fx as well. but hey! You can only get better right?

Heh, as far as the art goes.. well, I'm no artist to say the least :p
But personally I tink this is a pretty fun game.. I mean, I have fun playing it, although I guess there are some things that annoy me..

And I play more video games than is healthy, trust me xD

Pretty good..

haha the animation on the sticks was great! Heres the good and the bad, all nicely summed up for ya:
GOOD:
- awesome/funny animation
- quick progression
- Nice sound FX

BAD:
- lame music choice
- basically the same as Arsenal 2..no improvement/origionality
- gameplay is really weak because every enemy has the same shooting pattern
- guys just "appear", nothing imaginative..

I give you 7/10.. an honest score.

Thanks for the thorough review. Well, the "appear" thing wasn't in the original plans, but there was major lag at one point in development...... therefore, I had to cut some animations.

Great game!

Ok admittedly i cant finish the 2nd boss, and i dont have time to tonight.

Brilliant game, solid gameplay and great graphics. I love the clean, simple polished presentation on the games youve done. Something i can learn from.

PROS:
presentation is top notch
varying gameplay
Variety of weapons
Great design and animation
Nice soundtrack

CONS:
No gun sound!??? you could argue you dont want it to be repetitive noise, but finding a nice sound or putting a random code on the sound it produced is a fix.

DOWN+S to slide. Takes too long to do considering the reaction times needed. I know youre trying to keep it simple+easy to play, but D button wouldve been better imo.

Learning Curve. The first boss' patterns are pretty tricky because theyre random, its a bit too hard i think.

Gun Power. The sound attributes to this. But the guns didnt feel as badass as they should..no smoke trails, no epic explosions..i just didnt feel their power, which made me like em less...

That aside, brilliant game. Oh, and which is better in your opinion? CPM star, or Mochiads..

ahh i saw this on frontpage, i was like..YEAH finally. lol :]
amazing game. I almost feel that a lot of NG audience wont appreciate it cause it doesnt have guns, orcs or pointless buttons. haha

amazingly well designed, coded and animated. Love the art scheme, i allways love your designs actually buzzwerd, and the coding has improved loads darkness, and is just really smooth to play. Probably one of the best games on NG, its great to see deisngers who actually care about how good the game is and creativity, not just some quick cash for a shitty zombie spawning game or a defense game.

constructive crits:
- camera, too close in feels a bit claustraphobic, i think the game works better with a camera like when your in the robot swatter..can see my surroundings
- timing on the stomp animation, its too slow and it isnt satisfying feels kinda dull, kinda spoils the combat system
- shouldnt make players go back to start of game if they dont have enough eggs, design rule on games- dont make people repeat huge sections if they dont want to...cause theyll stop playing if they dont want to lol. I cant finish the swatter boss section, i wish theyre was a level select or checkpoints cause i want to play the rest

anyway, yeah the game was fucking amazing dude. Nice idea, humour, nice controls, graphics, actual story! and yeh was just fun..

no idea why it has 3.80? probably cause when you get to the chain doors it glitches an bullets dont effect the guys...which is annoying D:

erm, would be good to have some basic physics on the death animation, so if i die in the air it doesnt look gay an just lie him in mid air.

an yeah i agree with you about the complex games, an stupid middleearth RPG things with a billion unnecessary controls...its a flash game ffs! lol. nice game anyway :]

I agree with EVERYTHING in this review.
I would've done a mid-air animation, but by the time I got round to it, Flash was running so damn slow I couldn't animate anything.

its not too bad i guess...

although its kinda of annoying how youve clearly ripped designs from Dan Paladin (some of the robots), the actual tank is a blatant representation of his Peacetank.. but care has gone into the game.. and its ok. not great. i suggest you find a better coder, because just moving and jumping isnt all that satisying, which is also made worse by the fact that your character is more or less a square block with the agility of a square block. sorry but its true.

read a few games designs books, and practice your animation/coding.

Ok. Buzzwerd. this is greg-anims. I felt like i needed to review this game, because it is both, really good. and really bad. at the same time...

THE GOOD: The style and look is consistant, and really impressive. Nice shape and simplicity to the graphics, nice colours, it all looks fantastic. I really do like the style of your characters and environments buzzwerd. Make sure your site looks like this! : P

Very nice physics and controll, like the moving blocks and sliding of the character.

Also i love the small toutches, like the way the steps sink a little as you step on them, and how the colour scheme changes in each level.

I only got to the worm level, which we shall talk about in a second, but the way the gameplay changes in brilliant, and its clear this game has some design and length to it. Unlike most flash games with their repeatedly spawning enemies..

The sound is brilliant and fitting too. Well done.

THE BAD (for consctructive criticism):
The camera, is quite annoying, when you turn around and eveything pans incredibly fast to the other side. Why not just centre the character?

Optimisation. This is flash, and yeah, it runs slow if you put too much into it(which is a pain). This movie runs slow even in the .exe on my PC, which is 2.4ghz an 1gb ram. Its a pretty good one. FLASH 8 FILTERS SLOOOW DOWN THE FPS BY LOOOADSS. Dont know if you realised this, but the blurr on the clouds (unneccesary), and any other effects..slows flash down a lot.

Speed..when the game ran full speed in places, it was so unbelievably fast..the jumping was hard to control because of this. And the worm level is just impossible for me..i really wanted to get past it because this game is so quality, but i just had to hammer jump..if i slowed down i just died. it is SO hard.

Enemy ai. Is pretty basic..but good. Although, with the dinosaur, and death. I can put the character in the middle of the enemy, and just repeatedly jump and shoot..its a bit boring.

Overall...a brilliant game, let down by some weird design choices. Im really impressed with the overall quality, and the fact that it has descent length and has a lot of effort put into it. Your one of my favorite flash developers buzz/truedark..because you dont hammer out shit for sponsorship money, you actually strive for descent games and put in the effort. Good job. When you get on MSN, please can you edit the .exe with level skipping, so i can play the rest of this! 30mins long, and i can only get to the worm level...i hope you respond to this. (damn, this review is the longest ive ever written..and i dont write many either. anyway, i hope you appreciate it)

I appreciate the feedback of the good, we aimed deliberately for those details and I'm glad you were able to recognize them.

The bad. Yes, speed is probably the biggest downside to the game, as it can run slow for some while really fast for others who can handle it. Sorry about this, I will try and smooth out lag next time, and do my best to eliminate it all.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game and left us with some great things to polish up on for future games, and I'm so glad to hear that we're one of your favorite developers. Means a lot, thank you! :)
